Green Flag

In 2021, in conjunction with Fingal County Council, Santry Community Garden applied for Green Flag status.   We were delighted when we were awarded a Green Flag in November 2021.
In February 2022, we were thrilled to be included in the People's Choice top ten Green Flag winners worldwide.

How does the Garden work

Generally a community garden needs a core group of 8-10 committed volunteers. The garden is open for at least 2 hours, 4 times a week. When the garden is open a Lead Gardener or Committee Member is always on duty.

The Orchard

It's a tranquil, very special area of the garden, tended by specialist tree pruners. We concentrate our planting on unusual varieties - mainly apple, pear and plum but we also have almond, cherry, gage and peaches.

What happens to the produce?

Everyone asks how we divide up the harvest - and we can assure you its all very civilised. We pick what's in season and leave it on the table for anyone who is working that day to help themselves.
